April Challenge: Out the Box with RUNGRL

Last year, we launched our first monthly challenge calendar in April in the midst of a global pandemic and we were blown away by the RUNGRL community response! Our RUNGRLs were equally excited when we launched the “Find Your Way Back” challenge in September. So, as 2021 begins to get warmer and brighter, we thought it about time to go ahead and run it back.
This year, for the month of April, we’re breaking out—out of our fitness ruts, out of our mental blocks and barriers and (safely) out of the house—with the April ‘Out the Box’ Challenge.
What’s the Challenge?
Beginning April 1, we’re following a suggested schedule of movement, mindfulness and wellness activities designed to help you reimagine what a consistent routine can look like for you. We’re here to “love on ourselves”, mentally and physically, and change the way we think about wellness commitments as something to look forward to.
What to Expect
This month-long challenge is about both body and mind. We’re focusing on resetting both our physical and mental routines, to reinvigorate our love of self-care, wellness and challenging ourselves to continuously improve. In addition, we’ll be hosting live workouts and conversations on Instagram all month long to keep you on track and engaged with the RUNGRL community. And don’t worry, we’ve built in plenty of recovery days to avoid burnout.
Plus, you’ll get weekly email reminders of what’s on deck for the challenge week ahead.
Each day has one or two categories of activity to make your focus:
SELF-CARE + HAIR - We’re indulging in restorative practices and taking special care of our hair so there’s no reason to skip workouts.
RUNNING - We’re getting in regular miles with suggested running workouts.
BODY - We’re activating our bodies with varying types of cross-training movement.
MIND - We’re exercising mindfulness with activities to improve your mental wellness.
NUTRITION - We’re examining our food practices by planning meals and removing poor nutrition habits.
FLEX - We’re encouraging flexibility and recovery with yoga and pilates-inspired movement.
REST - We’re kicking back and taking time to recover with a day to ourselves.

Tips for a Successful Month
Start where you are. No need to overdo it. Take your time and level up the right way--patiently. In other words, go at your own pace.
Set yourself up for success. Planning ahead will make it easier to stick to the schedule.
Days are interchangeable. If you need to switch out for a rest day do it.
