Hair, Running and Wellness at 2020 Love the Hair You Wear Virtual Conference
by RUNGRL Staff
When it comes to learning the best ways to love and care for your hair, it can be hard to know which advice is best for you. That’s why Vecoya Banks created the annual hair conference, Love the Hair You Wear (LTHYW), which focuses on helping Women of Color embrace their natural hair roots, increase self-esteem and enjoy the company of other natural beauties.
Now in its fifth year, LTHYW returns this week on Sunday, July 12 and, for the first time, will be hosted as a fully virtual conference. Despite the challenges of meeting in groups during the COVID-19 pandemic, this haircare game waits for no one! So, this conference is set to deliver all the much-needed hair info, resources and conversation that our community needs in an easily-accessible way.
In 2018, RUNGRL co-founder Jasmine Nesi joined the event lineup to speak on a panel about RUNGRL’s #MyRunningHair initiative and the role that hair care plays as a frequent barrier for Black women who want to be fit and active. More than just about looks, this conversation is an important part of the idea that we should love ourselves and love our hair as well.
RUNGRL Joins the 2020 Love the Hair You Wear Virtual Conference
This year, RUNGRL returns for another highly relevant hair and wellness discussion. The panel, entitled ‘Loving Your Hair as an Active Black Woman’, will be moderated by Jasmine and will feature top industry professionals including:
Tara Bethune, Runner, Pilates Instructor at Flex Studios; and Founder, Move for the Movement;
Tulani Elisa, Vice President of Social Media, FOX Entertainment; Calendarist, Cycling Instructor and Runner
McKenzie Harris, Brand Manager, Sunday || Sunday
Join us as we discuss the many nuanced experiences of maintaining beautiful, healthy hair as active Black women. Additional content at the LTHYW virtual conference will include conversations focused on the best ways to maintain health, wellness, and all things hair and beauty related, a hair demo, head wrap tutorial, plus the rundown on the hottest new products, all sponsored by Black women-owned companies.
Join the conversation at this year’s event and get even more versatile style tips, hair conversations and more. See the full schedule and register at lthyw.com.
